He lets us know of the repulsions of the inhumane imprisonment; starvation, beatings, torment, sickness, and hard work. Perfect Competition The Market Price Of An Product
Perfect competition describes a marketplace that no one participant can set the market price of an exchangeable product. This is generally considered an ideal, rarely found in markets today. There are some approximations, such as online auctions, such as eBay. Such firmsââ¬â¢ demand curves are perfectly elastic. These markets are theorized to have an unlimited number of buyers and sellers. There are likewise no barriers to entry or exit. Monopolistic competition describes a marketplace offering differentiated products, and as such are not perfect substitutes. This is found in restaurants, shoes and other preference-driven goods. Such firms find a high elasticity of demand (in the long run), likely excess profits in the short term, and price setting available to them (as there are no perfect substitutes for their products; competitor prices are ignored). Oligopoly refers to an industry dominated by a small number of sellers with market power. They have the ability to limit or discount competition, and artificially earn excess profits. U. S. cell phone providers are often cited as a clear example of oligopoly, as the major providers effectively control the market. They set market prices for their goods or services. Barriers to entry are high, from capital investment to government permission to enter a market. Dynamics of Corporate Social Responsibility â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Dynamics of Corporate Social Responsibility. Answer: Introduction: International expansion can create numerous opportunities for a business which helps the organisation to grow and become more competitive in various markets. But it can be a difficult for the company to understand the business environment in a particular country. There are many companies which have grown due to their effective global strategy, research and adaptability. It is essential for the management to assess all the risks related to the industry because international expansion can be costly and it involves many complexities (Australia in brief, 2017). The main objective of this report is to analyse the risks and opportunities in Australia as it has been chosen as the target country for the expansion of the business. The factors which have been included for the assessment are political system, legal, economic, cultural, ethical, FDI and foreign exchange. These key aspects will allow the directors to take decision whether to expand the business to Australia. Furthermore, it will provide them with the information which will enable them to make changes in the products, services, approach and strategy according to the business environment in Australia. Apart from this, assessment table and recommendations have also been included in the report. Australia is the sixth largest country in the world and its population is about 23 million. There are more than 22,000 foreign companies which are registered in Australia. As per the index of Economic Freedom, it is ranked fifth (Figure 1) due to its well developed legal system, openness to trade, skilled workforce, bureaucracy and government system (Australia Trade and Investment Commission, 2017). It is also among the most attractive investment destinations. MNCs can be benefitted from the trade agreements of Australia with many Asian countries. It provides them more opportunities to increase their presence in other markets as well. According to the report of IMF, Australia has been growing at a good pace and the same trend is expected in the future as well (IMF Report: Australia, 2017). The factors which have been supporting the growth trend include commitment to trade, flexible exchange rates, forewing investments, institutional policies and macroeconomics factors. In terms of gr owth, the country provides low risk and safe business environment. The service sector has also been growing which provides support to various industries. Apart for this, there are five key industries which are performing exceptionally well in global markets. It includes Tourism, Education, Agribusiness, Financial services and Resources Energy. Moreover, abundance of minerals and energy resources has been useful for them to increase FDIs and exports. But unemployment rates have increased and many businesses except mining have not been performing well (Australia in brief, 2017). The government has been changing their policies to provide fundamental support to many companies which will allow them to get back on track. They have been focused on increasing productivity and the quality of the produces in the country. For example, the value of Dairy industry is over AUD 4 billion and it employs more than 40000 people. It is considered to be one of the most important rural industries in Au stralia. In 2016, the export value of milk production was 9.5 billion liters (The Australian Dairy Industry, 2016). It included products like cheese, milk powder, drinking milk, yogurt, custards etc. But milk production has dropped in 2017 which is a big concern for the government. In Australia, both domestic and international demand has been rising which is a great opportunity for a new company. Political system Australia has stable government and independent bureaucratic setup. It has helped in the development of transparent system and competent governance which is reflected in all the political processes. The structure of both national and state government has been given in the figure below. There are three levels which include Federal, states and local government. According to the Economic Freedom score, Australia has received 81 points which is above the world average of 60.9 (Australian Politics, 2017). The government is also progressive and effective in coping up with the challenges in economy. They have made significant improvements in their policies which has helped them to adapt to the changes. They have ensured that there are fewer restrictions on the foreign trade and investments which is beneficial for the industry. The spending of the government is also high which account for about 37% of the total GDP (Cavusgil, Knight and Rose, 2014). For a business perspective, it is favorabl e because it becomes easier for them to understand all the rules and regulations. Furthermore, there is no risk of complete change in the policies of the government. It has increased the opportunities for various industries and innovation. According to IMF, there have been two major reforms in the country. It includes NISA and National Innovation (IMF Report: Australia, 2017). These measures are taken by the government to boost up productivity, competition and entrepreneurial development. The government has allowed market forces to control the prices which have led to the development of the industry (The Australian Dairy Industry, 2015). Foreign companies can assure their long term presence as they will not be facing any difficulties from the political system which is well developed. Australian government has also been planning to balance their budgets in the near future (Cavusgil, Knight and Rose, 2014). It will have positive implications in the demand and better growth prospects w ill be available for the businesses. In short, the political system is favorable for the dairy industry. Australia has transparent and well developed legal framework. It is ranked 8th in terms of low corruption as per the Transparency International Corruption Perception (Australian Business and Environment Laws, 2017). But it is essential for a new business to understand all the rules and regulations of the country. The structure of the company should be chosen wisely as it can have different implications in taxation, registration and liabilities. For instance, Dairy industry and has been benefitted from the deregulation and rationalization of 2001. It has increased the efficiency and the quality of the produce. The producers are able to compete in the international market as they have been more competitive. Dairy Australia is an RDC organization which helps in RD and supply chain (Dairy Industry Development, 2016). In terms legal structure, dairy industry has favorable opportunities of growth in Australia. The legal regulations for other indusirtes have also been simplified. The company tax is 30% and foreign individuals are taxed for their earnings sourced in the country. Furthermore, business should also take into account the consumption tax and GST (Legal system, 2017). There are certain legislation and on trade activities and businesses in Australia. The state government, territory and councils have taken many steps to streamline the entire process. They have ensured that the rights of consumers are protected, fair trading is encouraged, healthy competition exists and reduced conflicts among the consumers, suppliers and business owners (Legal system, 2017). Some of the legislations have been given below: Privacy laws: Individual privacy laws and protection of sensitive information should be ensured. Environment legislation: There are legislation related to specific industries and prior approval has to be taken before commencing the business (Australian Business and Environment Laws, 2017). It attracts assessment and licensing. Furthermore, environmental protection and cultural concerns have to be taken care. Australian Consumer Laws (ACL): There are guidelines and norms towards product safety, contract terms, lay by agreements, consumer rights etc (Carvan, 2002). Product liability regulation: Safety and standards of the product have to be ensured by the business owner or company. ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) does not allow harmful and sub-standard products to enter the market. Competition laws: Fair trading laws and regulations have to be followed which may differ in different states. There are certain obligation and responsibilities of the business owners which have to be fulfilled by them otherwise it can give rise to penalties. Economic system The free market economy of Australia has helped them to grow in spite of recession. The total value of Australian GDP in 2017 is AUD $1.6 trillion. The main sectors which have been contributing heavily in the growth are services, mining, construction, agriculture and manufacturing. It is estimated that the GDP of Australia will increase to 3.1% in 2017 and 3% in 2018 (Hatfield-Dodds, Schandl and McCallum, 2015). The rise of commodity prices has also helped the economy to improve its position. But still there are many vulnerabilities which cannot be ignored and it is likely to remain in near future as well. Apart from this, both business and consumer confidence is high which is beneficial for Australia. The labor market has been improving which has reduced the unemployment rate to 5.7% in 2016 Australian Performance, 2017). More than 80% new jobs have been created in the 2016. On the other hand, the growth in wages has remained low due to cost pressures. The government has been taking decisions to help the business to grow. It is reflected in the increased net exports and household consumption. For example, Australia exports more than half of its produce to other countries. It is only behind EU and New Zealand in the rankings of largest producers. It is also comprised of 10% in global trade and main destinations include Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Singapore (Dairy Industry Development, 2016). But changes in the price of milk due to change in demand can affect the business. 2015 and 2016 has been the toughest season for the domestic producers. It is also expected that some of the companies will shut down due to tight and negative margins. Other industries such as IT, manufacturing, Tourism, Education, Agribusiness, Financial services and Resources Energy have been performing well. It can create new opportunities for the new business. There were many factors in 2016 which slowed down the growth of the economy. But in 2017, the trend is likely to improve as domestic demand is expected to rise. The employment and inflation will also increase (Pandya and Sisombat, 2017). But still there will be some micro financial issues which will affect the economy. It can increase the risk on the many sectors. The two main problems are house prices and uncertainties in China. Moreover, high debt ratios, current account deficits and external liability have been a concern. Therefore, in terms of economic outlook, the new company has to take prepare themselves for the ups and downs. They have favorable conditions but they have to remain cautious. Cultural context Australia is a multicultural society and the number of immigrants has increased in the recent few years. A new business has to prepare itself to cater to the need of people from different backgrounds and origins. Most of the people are Christians (over 50%) but other religions are also present (Garling, Hunt and Sanders, 2013). There are also Oceanians, Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginals. Apart from this, there is no official language in Australia. Most of the people speak English but it is considered to be a monolingual nation. The other languages include Mandarian, Italian, Arabic etc. On the perspective of communication, Australian is friendly and open. They respect each other as well as different opinions (Markus, 2016). They prefer directness in conversation and interactions. They require more information about a person before communication. Most of the people are well educated and competent. As a result, the unemployment rates are lower as compared to other countries and wa ges are higher. Australia is low in power distance which means power is not concentrated among few groups. It is spread out evenly among all the people. There is more equality and better access to power. Furthermore, in terms of uncertainty avoidance, Australia has scored low. This implies that Australia avoid uncertainties (Schaper, Volery, Weber and Gibson, 2014) . They prefer stability which increases their anxiety. They take rules and regulations seriously and follow them. Moreover, they are individualists and it is considered important in the society. They tend to support their personal objectives over groups goals. They are also inclined towards masculinity. The traits which are common among the people are ambition, achievements, strong personality, money acquisition etc. A new business has to ensure that they take into account all the information and produce goods or services of high quality. The new company in has favorable conditions in cultural perspective and it will allow them to increas e their market share easily. Ethical, CSR and sustainable environment CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility has become an important part of Australian businesses. The government has made sure that all the products and services follow the regulations and fulfill their CSR commitments (Crowther, Seifi and Moyeen, 2017). The environmental sustainable policy has been focusing on creating mandatory standards for the protection of environment and resources. The policy includes: Waste minimization Reducing carbon emission Greenhouse gases Minimizing pollutions Environmental management Use of energy According to the index of Sustainability Development Goals (SDG), Australia has been ranked in the world. This index compares the practices and performances of different nations (SDG, 2017). It includes 17 goals related to health, climate change, social context, environmental and sustainable economic development. Australia is behind many countries such as Canada, UK, Germany etc. Australia is among the highest carbon emissions countries (Environmental sustainability policy, 2017). Their policies are underdeveloped and there may be significant changes in the near future. The government is getting more attentive towards their environmental goals which will result in more strict rules and regulations. The SDG index also shows that immediate action is required because they are on vulnerable condition (Ross, 2017). It can have negative implications on the industries which are related to fisheries, minerals, carbon emissions etc. They will have to obtain licenses and approvals from the con cerned authority. A business has to take this aspect into consideration because any change in the sustainable policy means that they have to change their entire process (Crowther, Seifi and Moyeen, 2017). It will not only increase the cost of the company but it will burden of debts on them. The CSR practices and changes may create unfavorable conditions for the new company in Australia. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Foreign trade is considered important in Australia and the total value of exports and imports account to over 41% (Whitton, Baker and Mounter, 2016). The open market allows trade freedom, investment freedom and financial freedom. All the industries allow FDI and foreign competition. Open market system means the government has allowed privatization in most of the industries. But they make sure that they regulate and keep a check on all trade activities to avoid any issues (Armstrong, Reinhardt and Westland, 2017). The competitiveness of Australia has increased in service industry, high quality manufactured goods and technology. The main sources of exports are agriculture, mining and minerals. According to the FDI Confidence Index, 2017, the confidences of the investors remain strong (Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index, 2017). Even though, their ranking has dropped in recent few years yet Australia remains an attractive location for business. They have been benefitted by strong ties with Asia which has increased to $408.7 billion (Pandya and Sisombat, 2017). Furthermore, The FDI inflows of Australia have increased by 38 %. In 2015, the value of FDIs inflows was USD 38 billion which has gone up to USD 52 billion in 2016 (Australian Performance, 2017) . The global trade has been affected by weak demands and uncertainties in many economies. It has led to the decrease in Global FDI which has dropped in 2016. But Australia has performed well in these conditions which is a positive sign. In 2017 and 2018, the world trade and FDI are likely to improve which will be beneficial for Australia (FDI Inflows, 2017). The Trade and Investment Ministry of Australia has also been allowing FDI in many industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, services, It etc. It has been due to the international reputation of many industry and their quality produces. Thus, FDI investment will not create any hurdles for the new company and it will provide favorable opportunities for t he growth. The value of the Australian currency has decreased from 2013. It was 0.9679 in 2013 which reduced to 0.7661 in 2017 for AUD/USD (Exchange rates, 2017). It is essential for the business to use forwards, futures and options to avoid any risk of currency fluctuations. According to IMF, 87% of the liabilities in Australia are in foreign currency. On the other hand, 49% of the assets ate are in foreign denomination (Changes in currency, 2017). Depreciation in domestic currency can create problems for a business. It is important for them to hedge to avoid risks. Many Australian companies have been following this method which has been beneficial for them in the long run. Year Rate Average 0.8265 2013 0.9679 2014 0.9028 2015 0.7521 2016 0.7436 2017 0.7661 Recommendations Australia is an attractive destination for foreign investment and business expansion. It can provide lot of opportunities for the growth and development of the company. It can be seen from the analysis that there are both positives and negatives in the country. The new company has to prepare themselves for the future events. It is highly recommended that the management should make changes in their products and services keeping in mind the multicultural context in Australia (Schaper, Volery, Weber and Gibson, 2014). Criteria Favorable Moderate Unfavorable Political system v Legal system v Economic system v Cultural context v Ethical, CSR and sustainable environment v International trade v Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) v Foreign exchange v Score 4/9 3/9 1/9 It can be seen from the above that the favorable are more. Thus, the new dairy company will be able to survive and grow in Australian market. Conclusion It can be concluded from the broad risk analysis of Australia that there are lot opportunities for business growth and development. But there are certain risks which have to be taken into consideration by the company before starting their business. They should not use a generalized approach for all the countries. They should be more focused on adaption and proactive approach should be used to compete in the industry. From the assessment, it can be seen that a new business can easily flourish in Australia. But the management has to make sure that they understand the legal complexities and take prior licenses before commencing. They should also prepare themselves for the economic vulnerabilities which can have significant effects on the business. References Armstrong, S., Reinhardt, S. and Westland, T., 2017. Yeezus by Kanye West free essay sample
Yeezus There was no doubt in my mind if I was going to write a review on musical album, it would be Yeezus by Kanye West. This masterpiece album dropped June 18th 2013, it is Kanyeââ¬â¢s 6th solo album and what I have noticed is every album keeps getting better and better. Yeezus was very different from the rest. Kanye uses primal screams, pixelated out bursts, but also smooth soul and anthmic chorus that my ears and mind enjoyed. Kanye West has many diehard fans that appreciate his music. However, he also has many haters as well that think heââ¬â¢s crazy and arrogant. People need to understand that Kanye West isnââ¬â¢t like any other rapper or artist. This album Yeezus is special because it is balance of his life and also his high-energy anger with confronting us with various stereotypes and issues. I would say Yeezus is his best album since his first album College Drop Out. We will write a custom essay sample on Yeezus by Kanye West or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Giving Yezzus an honest review, I have only five songs out of the nine that are my personal favorites. The first song ââ¬Å"Bound 2â⬠, which is a single is a song you must have on your I pod because its smooth and unique rhythm with all the sounds in the background while Yeââ¬â¢ (Kanye) is rapping about the love of his life Kim Kardashian. Arguably the best rap song of 2013, ââ¬Å"New Slavesâ⬠, brings about issues of racial stereotypes. ââ¬Å"New Slavesâ⬠was very controversial, but it was natural and real it made your head nod agreeing with Yeââ¬â¢s vicious delivery throughout the song. The last 3 songs that I highly recommend from Yeezus are ââ¬Å"Black Skinheadâ⬠, ââ¬Å"On Sightâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"Blood on the Leavesâ⬠. Overall, Yeezus is one of my favorite rap/hip hop albums of 2013 and that being said I give it a 92 out of 100.

Free Essays on The World Is Too Much With Us Free Essays on The World Is Too Much With Us The Essence of Man In William Wordsworthââ¬â¢s sonnet "The World Is Too Much with Us," the authorââ¬â¢s techniques enhance a feeling of not only hopeless despondency, but also forlorn dejection. Wordsworth presents first humankind's existing botched relationship to nature and quickly follows with his nostalgic idealization of our past rapport with it, the latter section being more immediate and personal. Wordsworth desperately longs for humanity to return to its once flourishing relationship with nature, ultimately becoming more true to our own quintessence. Wordsworthââ¬â¢s diction enhances a feeling of melancholy. For example, the author recognizes the vast potential for humankind, but the all too common mentality of ââ¬Å"getting and spendingâ⬠clouds the once perceptive outlook of humanity. The appetite the world has for devouring all that is around blinds all as to what is being sacrificed for the progress. Wordsworthââ¬â¢s powerful word choice reinforces the fact that mankind is jaded by materialism, thus destroying nature instead of embracing it. Wordsworth sees himself as having insight to the problems that exist between humanity and nature, warning that the materialistic progress being made by man is not without consequence. The destruction of the environment by mankindââ¬â¢s shortsightedness will continue as Wordsworth has foreseen. Wordsworth expresses to us that we are filthy animals and have betrayed nature; we have taken our love away from it and given it to getting and spending. He feels that as a result o f urbanization the beauty of nature that once many people possessed and saw everyday in their lives is now lost and in its place people find joy in getting and spending. Wordsworthââ¬â¢s argument is that, when these elements are considered, it can be seen that the beauty of the universe has a moral, that is, as we are more focused on materialism rather than our religious beliefs, we are becoming heathens, thus we must learn to ap... Free Essays on The World Is Too Much With Us Explication of ââ¬Å"The World Is Too Much With Usâ⬠ââ¬Å"The World Is Too Much With Us,â⬠a sonnet written by William Wordsworth is about the disconnection of mankind with nature. He also writes about the carelessness and wastefulness of humans. Wordsworth continues with a plea to God that it be changed. Beginning with the title of the sonnet, ââ¬Å"The World Is Too Much With Us,â⬠implies that the world is too busy with people. Nature has been overlooked in the mist of everyoneââ¬â¢s hectic lives. The title is repeated in the first line, then ââ¬Å"late and soon.â⬠These words suggest that the nature has been overlooked in the past, and will continue to be overlooked in the future. ââ¬Å"Getting and spendingâ⬠refers to the materialistic, commercialized world. Humans have become so involved in technology that they are ignoring the glorious natural world. In this line, when Wordsworth writes ââ¬Å"we lay waste our powers,â⬠he is directly stating that because of the ââ¬Å"getting and spending,â⬠humankind is not living up to its potential. ââ¬Å"Little we see in Nature that is oursâ⬠reveals the disconnection humans have with nature. Furthermore, humans have no connection with God. Nature is a creation of God, and the two are one and the same, then mankind is disconnected with Him. Technology has replaced any type of a supreme being or faith in oneââ¬â¢s spirituality. Only mankindââ¬â¢s love for obtaining things exist. Men no longer appreciate nature the way Wordsworth wishes. Wordsworth also believes that man have sold our souls when he writes ââ¬Å"we have given our hearts away.â⬠He calls this a ââ¬Å"sordid boon.â⬠Sordid means filthy or dirty. Websterââ¬â¢s Dictionary also defines the word as meaning ââ¬Å"morally corrupt.â⬠This obviously implies the hearts of men are morally degraded. A boon is a gift, so the corrupt hearts of men have been given away to some evil. When humans give their hearts away, they also give away their mo...

Total Quality Management (TQM) Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Total Quality Management (TQM) - Research Paper Example What makes total quality management peculiar is the fact that brings on board the inputs of not just a limited component of the organization but the collective efforts of all stakeholders towards the success of the organization. Total quality management also tries to make the customer the central focus and attention for quality delivery. This means that the target for ensuring success is to ensure that the customer receives quality of service. Industry Adoption of TQM Today, it is said that the adoption of total quality management by industries is no longer a luxury but a responsibility (Ferreira & Otley, 2003). The reason for this is in the numerous benefits that the adoption of total quality management comes with. Though the benefits will be discussed into detail in subsequent sections, it can be said that the need for industries to adopt total quality management is mainly in the structure of their organizations. First, it can be asserted that for any given industry, there is the p rivileged of having a multi-structural organogram in place. An organogram may best be described as an organizational structure, which for industries is made up of several input stakeholders. All of these input stakeholders who may include shareholders, board of directors, management, employees and suppliers all have a responsibility of ensuring that the industry achieves its goals. Because of the divergent nature of the structure and because of the fact that total quality management deals with different stakeholders playing their roles, it becomes easier for industries to adopt total quality management. The other point is that there is the customer factor, where various industries have customers, whom they are expected to serve their interests. For this reason, it becomes necessary to adopt total quality management and use it to serve the purpose of the customer. Benefits of TQM Considering the face of change that is being associated with total quality management, the best benefit t hat can be assigned to total quality management is the fact that it helps in the creation of competitive advantage for various companies. Competitive advantage becomes necessary when virtually every other company is doing the same thing and performing at the same level (Ezzamel, 2004). For example when all competitors are charging the same service price, it becomes necessary to have a fighting force that would ensure that customers choose your company over others, though the prices may be the same. Today, there is much evidence to the fact that customer prefer customer satisfaction to cost salvaging. To this end, when total quality management is implemented to bring about customer satisfaction, it serves as a competitive advantage for the organization to win the hearts of customers. What is more, adopting total quality management ensures a coherent organizational atmosphere. This is because it puts every member of the working force at post and enshrines that each person plays his or her role judiciously (Rank, 2012). Hurdles to Quality Improvements The implementation of total quality management has often been faced with several hurdles and challenges, among which includes the fact that there has often been apathy and lack of cooperation from the entire workforce. The reason why this has

Literary analysis argument - Dissertation Example Anti-Goetheism in Post-Modernism + Deleuze & Guattari VIII. Conclusion IX. Annotated Bibliography & Sources Cited Abstract: The canonical masterpiece of modern German literature historically is regarded to be ââ¬Å"Faustâ⬠, published by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in the period of 1808-1832, and the story itself is taken as a parable of the moral conflicts at the foundation of the modern individual psychologically. In post-modern studies, the characteristics of modernism become even more important as they represent the historical ââ¬Å"otherâ⬠- the traditions, foundations, and movements that create the historical stage which provides the cultural base for the individual to create self-identity and moral awareness. The academic reverence and position of establishment of ââ¬Å"Faustâ⬠in modern German literature or world history is received as heritage by the post-modern scholar, which is truly different than it must have appeared when the work was first published and received. Goethe, Rousseau, Napoleon, Jefferson, and other historical figures of the late 18th & early 19th centuries represent a point in history when Enlightenment values as formed and developed in the Renaissance era finally achieved a shift in the balance of power socially allowing them to be implemented as the basis of the formation of the modern State, liberalism and democracy. ... Goetheââ¬â¢s position in German literature is classical, because he is among the first of the languageââ¬â¢s poets to take a place among the stars as a constellation, in the manner that the Greeks elevated their great philosophers and heroes to mythological greatness. In interpreting ââ¬Å"Faustâ⬠, this essay will examine the characteristics of modernism drawn from Jamesonââ¬â¢s thesis on late-capitalism, Deleuze & Guattariââ¬â¢s analysis in ââ¬Å"A Thousand Plateaus,â⬠as well as the historical and psychological interpretations of Friedrich Nietzsche and Carl Jung, in order to build a symbolic interpretation of Faust as an archetypal myth of modern individualism in German literature. Government by the People Essay Example for Free
Government by the People Essay The population growth has caused concern for many Americans because of the terms of numbers and poverty that comes with this growth. There is a pattern showing of wealth transferring from poorer nations to the richer nations of the globe and the information technology revolution is speeding this cycle up. With population growth reaching new heights new concerns for increasing urban growth has emerged. Planning for transportation, environment protection, or management of water and other resources are needed. Unregulated markets forces will hurt individuals and ââ¬Å"politics as usualâ⬠will not mandate viable growth patterns or protect the air, water and natural beauty of our country. Planning and growth depends on public support and market forces. In order for plans to be effective they must show he same interests and values of major groups within the community. Even with the fear of the government, something that is generally accepted hampers a lot of effective planning. But it is clear that for any planning to work there must a consensus between ââ¬Å"planners, community leaders, and the popularly elected officials who must bear the responsibility for implementing the plansâ⬠(Magleby, Oââ¬â¢Brien, Light, Peltason Cronin, 2006, p. 649). This planning for our country, communities and societies along with its citizens has given the United States the status of world power. But controversy has erupted from the resent war with Iraq that questions our authority. Iââ¬â¢ve heard many individual claims that America is expanding its empire, rather than fighting for freedom. Our rise to a world power has come because of our industry, colleges and universities, multiple government institutions, military strengths. This along with our innovations in science, technology and medicine catapulted us into our status. Development of such things as television and jet airliners gave America the edge it needed to jump to the top of the ladder. They have also helped to spread our ideologies of democracy and westernization. It has created globalization and keeps it going. Our commerce and business growth has only helped with this globalization. Companies, such as IBM and General Motors have given the national government firm grounds in business. Our national government promotes ââ¬Å"a prosperous economy through its monetary and fiscal policiesâ⬠(Magleby, Oââ¬â¢Brien, Light, Peltason, Cronin, 2006, p. 437). The Department of Commerce has been at the center of the governmentââ¬â¢s efforts to promote economic growth and encourage businesses to do research and new development. These companies are at the heart of this economic growth plan. But more recently new development has been needed to keep these companies afloat as technology and innovation continues to climb new heights. Turning outdated companies into the companies of the future. The introduction of the electronic superhighway mandates companies to use e-commerce and if they canââ¬â¢t they might get left behind. The internet has given us a faster way for just about everything. It has even influenced society, culture and lifestyles. The Progressive Era began in United States during the mid 1890ââ¬â¢s and continued through World War I. It was a time when individuals were beginning to have concerns with the state of society. It also brought about a belief in human compassion and how new innovations along with scientific investigation could somehow show what the problem was with ways of solving the problems. This reformation shows even in todayââ¬â¢s time. Our social construct has great bearing on our national government. Take for example the debate on same-sex marriages. Our government has made laws that pertain to this issue, but some in society believe government has gone too far. But the core issue at stake, that I believe, has something to do with insurance. I donââ¬â¢t believe that our national government is trying to establish social norms, but rather maintain certain expectations of commerce and business. Reference: Magleby, D. Essay --
The main questions addressed in this research were based on the Medicago Truncatula- Sinorhizobium symbiosis that form indeterminate (non-reproducing bacteria) nodules. a) to see whether M. truncatula displays partner choice in picking the most efficient rhizobia between nitrogen fixing and non fixing bacteria in both pre- infection and post- infection scenarios. b) the authors also wanted to see if legumes can alter their allocation of carbon photosyntates to each nodule depending on how efficient the rhizobia is in each nodule. Authors of this article did this research because this symbiotic relationship is widely studied, but all the research done so far have been on determinate (bacteria is able to reproduce) nodules1 rather than indeterminate nodules. In previous research it was found that determinate nodules show both partner choice and allocation differentiation between efficient and non- efficient rhizobia. Answer2: Authors hypothesized that in Medicago Truncatula- Sinorhizobium that form indeterminate nodules will show partner choice in both pre infection and post infection scenarios and select for the most efficient rhizobia partner. They also hypothesized that the legume will show differential allocation of carbon photosyntates in each nodule depending on the number of nitrogen fixing and non fixing rhizobia in each nodule. Answer3: Figure # What method(s) gave this data? What do these data show? Figure1a The authors performed a split- root experiment to obtain data based on three different parameters and then used MANOVA analyses to compare the three parameters used in the experiment. They used Post hoc on all the measurements to use it to graph the differences. ANOVA to compare the mean of the two strains used... ...thors hypothesis. However, they were not able to show difference in the resource allocation to each nodule depending on the efficiency of bacteria in each nodule. Therefore they concluded that sanctioning is not present is not present in all legume unlike the partner choice. Answer5: The authors think that the discrepancy in the results of the previous researches and theirs regarding allocations by the legume to nitrogen fixing and non- fixing bacteria is that the authors used M. truncatula- sinorhizobium indeterminate nodules whereas other researchers used either soybean or yellow bush lupin determinate nodules. Since this is the first time such model is presented I think that there should be more researches focusing only the sanctions by legumes to the bacteria to better understand the symbiosis between M. truncatula - Sinorhizobium and sanctions in general.

Jubilee Essay
ââ¬Å"Jubileeâ⬠is a narrative written by Margaret Walker and was first published in 1966. The writer, instructor as well as intellectual was born in 1915 and is best recognized for her civil war narrative Jubilee as well as for her influential anthology of poems concerning ethnic assertion. Walkerââ¬â¢s narrative is one of the initial tales to present the African-Americanââ¬â¢s nineteenth century experience within the South from a feminine as well as a blackââ¬â¢s perspective. The narrative won the Houghton Mifflinââ¬â¢s Literary Fellowship Award, and is a fictionalized explanation of the life of Margaret Duggans Ware Brown, Walkerââ¬â¢s great-grandmother who was born in Dawson in Terrell state as a slave and lived during reconstruction inside South West Georgia. The narrative is based on tales Walkerââ¬â¢s maternal grandmother narrated to her. (Walker. M, 1999) The seriously celebrated historical narrative/long fiction centers on the story of Vyry, a bi-racial slave in the Civil War in America and deals with a number of subjects like racism, freedom, slaves or slavery, Civil war, women, christianity, reconstruction, African- Americans among other major themes. The narrative is set in Georgia and afterward in diverse sections of Alabama during the mid-1800s prior to, during, as well as following the civil war. The following is an explanation of the setting in place and time, the manner in which the author takes the reader there, the major characters, the history studied from the narrative, what the reader can study concerning civil war, slavery and reconstruction, whether the author views slavery as paternalistic or autocratic as well as what the narrative states concerning why reconstruction was not successful.

Chilean Journalism Practices And How They Have Evolved And...
Claudia Mellado and Claudia Lagos, journalism professors at Chilean universities conducted a study on Chilean journalism practices and how they have evolved and responded to changes within the culture. Different platforms took different directions depending on whether they were national and supported by the government or private and supported independently. (Mellado 140) As the Chilean government allowed more ââ¬Å"freedom of speechâ⬠with the country, more media platforms came about. (Mellado 140) ââ¬Å"During this time, the more professional press was born, looking more like what we understand as a newspaperâ⬠in addition to news, all forms of media took off in the early 20th century. (Mellado 140) As the Chilean government began to allow moreâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦(Zagidullina 491) However, when the values of the nation change, and become more regulated, so does the press. As seen in both the study on Russia and Chile the press is greatly impacted by the cul ture of the country and the reign of the government. The past studies have determined that culture change has a great impact on journalism all over the world. Along with culture impacts is culture change, and how that influences the journalistic environment of a particular area. Culture change, as defined by Pearsonââ¬â¢s Third Edition on Cultural Anthropology, changes in peopleââ¬â¢s ways of life over time by both internal and external forces. (Bonvillian 490) One of the most significant changes to the Western World in the current era is the invention and expansion of social media. Social media allows people to have instant communication with anyone from anywhere in the world, sharing ideas, pictures, video and even news. Modern events can be heard about from those who witnessed them and posted on social media before a news source is even on site. A team of researchers conducted a study on Popular Culture and Communication Practice that traced the evolution and changes in jou rnalism based on culture, communication and media changes. ââ¬Å"Most research on popular culture address fiction, television, and forms of expression that aim at entertaining an audienceâ⬠(Buhmann 8) However, this study goes in depth on the impacts of popular culture
